Coach, Speaker, Book Author - JEANNE A. HEINZER
First of all, Coaching

  • ....is not therapy (therapists go in-depth and work with your past), it is no consultancy (consultants give answers to existing issues).

  • ....is an approach that requires your action and in which the coach works on your present and future enabling you to find your own answers.

  • ...... helps you to define areas where you wish to be happier, to set priorities, define a clear action plan and holds you accountable.

In a Coach you have a partner who accompanies you along the way. It is helpful to talk to friends about your concerns or dreams, but you may get more advice than you wish.

A Coach has your interests in mind and will support you to find your individual answers.

What Coaching can do

Let's take the example of Lee, a 34 year old single Chinese woman, who moved from Shanghai to Zurich, Switzerland for a duration of two yeas.

Lee was very excited when she arrived. She enjoyed her job, but also had some trouble with her boss and some co-workers who she felt were not dedicated enough to their work. Lee stayed up to 12 hours per day in the office. She went home, had dinner and went to bed in her temporary accommodation. When I worked with her she was close to a burn out and told me: 'I did everything I thought was expected from me, but I do not feel good about myself anymore. What can I do?'

Lee defined her own values and life vision and looked at new ways of combining her boss's expectations and her vision making sure that her own needs were met. I met a  new Lee a few months' later. She was happy and relaxed working 8 or 9 hours a day, exercising in a local fitness studio and discovering Switzerland with her new friends and colleagues on the weekend.s

Rachel is a 44 year old French woman from Paris, who moved with her husband and four children from Paris to Buenos Aires, Argentina, about three years ago.

Rachel is a stay-at-home mum. Her husband works for an embassy in Buenos Aires. She had felt for a while that she was living somebody else's life instead of her own life. She was frustrated and bored which led to frequent arguments with her husband and children.

I met Rachel when whe was at her lowest point and introduced her to the 'Wheel'. Looking at her whole life from a 'helicopter view' she identified the two top life areas that she felt needed improvement, namely her relationship to her husband and her own career aspirations.

She developed a clear vision for her whole life while concentrating on improving her two top life areas. Rachel realized how making changes in those two areas changed the quality of her entire life. She and her husband defined one common hobby, namely dancing, and now go out once a week. She did an online course in Interior Decoration and established a small business that allows her to live her passion while being primarily a stay-at-home mum in Argentina.
